Last
year we completed the fabled BP MS 150 75.
You’ve heard of that one right? The
one where the sky cracks open on the day before the ride and floods all the
property along the route?! Kudos to
the MS Society and their great team that reorganized the start of Day 2!
Their creativity, organization and networking allowed us to ride out of the
LaGrange town square and into Austin on a beautiful day.
I have to tell you I was completely bummed on Friday night when I heard
Day 1 was cancelled. I literally sat
there speechless not knowing what my plan was going to be.
I woke up Saturday knowing I was going to get to LaGrange but I didn’t
really have a plan. About 10:30 my
Dad received a call from his company’s team, the Sinclair Group, asking if I
had a plan for LaGrange. They
invited me to jump in the RV with them, drive to LaGrange, camp out in the RV
and start the next morning with them. How
cool is that?
We
drove through the driving rain thanking our lucky stars that we were not stuck
out on the route in the downpour. It
might have crushed me not to ride Day 1, but it was a necessary call that got
everyone to LaGrange safely. I had a
good time making new friends and hanging out in the RV.
Seven eager riders slept comfortably in the RV that night.
Everything worked out perfectly. The
next morning we got our bikes ready, took a group shot and headed off to the
town square. I’ll let my pictures
tell the rest of the story, but I did want to give a shout out to my friends and
family that became the new crop of Rookies last year.
Brother-in-law Jerry, niece Lizie, friends Susan and Christy, co-workers
Anne and Chris all joined in last year and raised money to Kick Ms’s Butt!
Remember how excited I was when you helped me raise $8,265 towards the fight against Multiple Sclerosis? Thanks to a tremendous response we knocked that one out of the park and raised $12,332! How incredible is that?! Not only did I make it into Club 300 again (#103), I qualified for the Tour of Champions. Just like being a part of Club 300, participating in TOC provided incredible experiences and new friendships. After hitting the magical $12,000 mark last year and qualifying I have again set my goal at $12,000. Why not - let's give it a shot!
So
once again I’ve created a web page to share my experiences and give you a
handy-dandy link to my fundraising page. I’ll
continue to post anecdotes on my fundraising page so hopefully I can provide you
with some entertainment and take you along for the virtual ride.
If you really enjoy the virtual experience and want to be a part of the
live action sign up next year and join us on our journey to Austin!
If you prefer the virtual world I’ll do the pedaling and you can do the
sponsoring!
Remember,
MS
is a crazy unpredictable disease and I want to be a part of straightening it
out. You’ve surely heard my motto - Kickin'
MS's butt everyday!
That's my goal, play hard every day and don't let MS hold me back. I'll
admit that some days MS kicks my butt, but usually it's because I've gone extra
hard the day before and my energy is zapped.
I'm
still working on the combined video from last year, so you'll have to check back
for that. For right now, I’ve included several videos from the season.
There is even video of one of my low speed high impact crashes.
Enjoy the show - I enjoyed creating and living the moments! In case
you didn’t get enough of my 2008 ride I’ve posted that video again under
that logo, last year’s Kodak moments under last year’s logo and once again you
get to this year’s donation page by clicking on the 2010 logo.
You can donate and read my blog to follow my training.
